The Nigrian Naval College is responsible for the Training of Officers for Sub-Technical Course, Midshipmen and Officer Cadets before Commissioning into the Nigeria Navy towards actualizing the CNS Strategic Directive and realization of the CNS mission. The Nigerian Naval College has the mandate of conductive effective training into the Nigeria Navy.
Training in the Nigerian Navy is the backbone of the service. The College has been refitted with the infrastructure provided and deployed well engaged personnel to bring efficiency and efectiveness to the conducts of training.
In todays military, technology is key, both in force management and equipment usage. The College is exploring technology options and solutions to bring Cadets and officers to a place with great knowledge in technology and enable its usage for the attendment of our goals.
Delivery quality and optimal performance of training is critical to the success of the mandate of the Nigerian Navy.

On Tue 4 Mar 25, Rear Admiral Haruna Shimi Zego visited the Commander NNS Pathfinder Cdre CN Aniaku.
On Tue 4 Mar 25, Rear Admiral Haruna Shimi Zego visited the Area Controller Of Customs Onne Area COMPTROLLER MOHAMMED Babandede, and his principal staff officers.
On Mon 3 Mar 25, Rear Admiral Haruna Shimi Zego visited the 6 Division Nigerian Army, where he was welcomed by Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, and his principal staff officers. The Commandant expressed his desire to solidify the relationship between the two units by collaborating and partnering to achieve set goals as military establishments, with a focus on cadet training. Major General Emekah assured the Commandant of his support and emphasized the importance of cadets' operationaltours.
Rear Admiral Haruna Shimi Zego, Commandant of the Nigerian Naval College (NNC), paid a courtesy visit to the Naval Shipyard Limited (NSL) on Mon 3 Mar 25. He was warmly received by Rear Admiral Etop Ebe, Admiral Superintendent Naval Shipyard Limited, and his team. During the visit, Rear Admiral Zego emphasized the importance of collaboration between the NNC and NSL, particularly during operational tours for NNC cadets. He expressed interest in accessing NSL study materials for attachment programs, which would benefit NNC cadets. Rear Admiral Ebe welcomed the proposal and assured the Commandant of NSL's readiness to support cadet training.
R Adm HS Zego also visited the Paramount Ruler of Ejamah Community, HRH Hon Peter N Oguru, to foster a cordial relationship between the college and the host community. The Council of Chiefs spokesperson expressed gratitude for the college's recent medical outreach and sought continued peace in the community. The Comdt reassured them that he would build upon the foundation laid by his predecessor. Both visits were concluded with an exchange of gifts and group photographs.
R Adm HS Zego, who assumed command as the Commandant of the Nigerian Naval College (NNC) on 5 Feb 25, embarked on a familiarization tour to strengthen ties with key stakeholders. As part of this tour, he paid a courtesy visit to the Director of the Department of States Services (DSS) at Onne Seaport, Mr. Abdullahi Umar Abubakar, on 25 Feb 25. During the visit, R Adm Zego was warmly received by Mr. Abubakar, who briefed him on the security situation at Onne Seaport and its environmental impact. The visit aimed to explore potential partnerships in training and security within the surrounding area. Mr. Abubakar pledged full cooperation with NNC.

The Nigerian Naval College bid farewell to outgoing Commandant, Rear Admiral BK Effiong, after a week-long ceremony. The events culminated in the Commandant's Division, where Rear Admiral Effiong expressed gratitude to God, college staff, and the Chief of Naval Staff.
A total of 112 Cadets of Direct Short Service Course 29 from the Nigerian Naval College embarked on an operational tour to three military units in Port Harcourt on Fri 31 Jan 25. The units visited included NNS PATHFINDER, 6 Division Nigerian Army and the 115 Special Operations Group Nigerian Air Force. The tour which was aimed at enhancing the cadets' knowledge and foster inter-service collaboration was led by Ag TC, Lt Cdr Z Nasada. Cadets received operational briefs and toured facilities at each unit. The visit was marked by the presentation of souvenirs and a vote of thanks by the cadets

The Midshipman Commissioning Board for 71 Regular Course was recently concluded in the College. The conduct of the Board is to assess the knowledge,awareness and readiness of the Midshipmen. The Board serves as final exam before they are commission Officers in the Nigerian Navy.

NDA Cadets of 73RC recently concluded Ex-Camp Ruwan Yaro which was aimed familiarizing naval cadets on sea training, visit to military establishment, practical and theory classes among others.

Midshipmen of 71 Regular Course undergoes the maiden Ex-Ironman competition which comprises 3km Jogging, 50mtr Swimming, Boat handling, Obstacle crossing was recently introduced by The Commandant to boost the spirit of sportmanship and team work of the Midshipmen and to enhance their level of endurance and morale.

The College recently conducted Maiden Career Week for Midshipmen of 71RC. This was design to enlghten them on different departments in the Nigerian Navy and understand the importance of chosing a career path to excel in the service.
